Bethany Mikell

Bethany Mikell is a textile artist and fashion designer from Orlando, Florida, USA. She recently completed her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in fashion design, with a focus on slow fashion and handwoven textiles.

Using a combination of traditional and experimental techniques and materials to weave custom textiles on floor and tapestry looms, Bethany creates many of her own textiles by hand for her one-of-a-kind garments.

She is often inspired by music and sound, creating playlists in lieu of visual mood boards to form the narrative around her work.

As an environmentally and socially-conscious designer, Bethany is committed to the use of many recycled and upcycled materials in her collections. It is her hope that, by combining couture fashion with the craft of handweaving, she may help create more interest in traditional production techniques and garments that are made to last.
